Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s rise has been remarkable to watch. For Mangold, a key reference point for Waller-Bridge in bringing Helena to life was Barbara Stanwyck’s role in the 1941 screwball comedy Lady Eve (“I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure, I’ll just do my Barbara Stanwyck,'” laughs Waller to Bridge. “It’s an impossible task.”) But amid all the fun and comedy came the chance to jump. . The kind of big action set pieces that the Indiana Jones movies do best. “Honestly, I just love it,” she says. “When you’re playing a character who throws herself on the back of a car, there’s no acting around it.
