Meraz Ahmad lives in Barguna, Barishal and is a freelance event organizer. He was actively looking for a second job until he came across Inkam on Facebook.

Inkam is a distribution company exclusively for digital products and services, which has introduced promising digital products (educational videos, professional development courses, medical services, etc.) to the market. The platform allows users to distribute these products for sales commissions.

“Inkam’s terms and policies are very easy and convenient to understand. So I registered myself and became an Inkam agent the same day,” said Meraz.

At Inkam, any agent/partner who earns a commission for marketing another person’s product or company is known as a “Digital Affiliate” (Digital Entrepreneur).

“We just have to work on finding new customers to serve [of different companies] they sell on this platform. For example, if I am assigned to sell digital course materials, I will continue to look around for potential customers. Once they agree to purchase the course, I send them my custom link where they can purchase,” explained Meraz, adding, “With each purchase, I earn a 10-15% commission in my account. “

Meraz now earns 2000 to 2500 trips per week. He also leads Barishal’s Digital Uddokta team.

As the world moves towards digitization, Bangladesh’s informal economy is growing exponentially. Inkam saw an opportunity to combine the two to create a service that would benefit everyone in the ecosystem.

Incam is open for business to any person (who can work as an agent) or platform (who can work as a partner or partner). For example, Go Global is an international platform for accepting and processing visas. They also provide career advice to students going abroad for higher studies.

Imtiaz Bin Habib, Assistant Business Development Manager, Go Global explained how their sales have increased since joining forces with Income.

“Career counseling is our most popular service. Previously, we only marketed it through Facebook and Google ads. These ads definitely gave us a lot of traffic, but not even 1% of those traffic led to an actual customer list. On the other hand, our reach through Income agents is almost 100% efficient and gives us good business,” Imtiaz told The Business Standard.

If Income matches its growth, Imtiaz plans to invest a major portion of his company’s marketing spend in Income in the coming years.

Gaps in digital infrastructure

A Statistica.com study shows that ad spending in Bangladesh’s digital advertising market will reach $305 million this year. Companies spend more than 1000 crores every year on digital marketing on Facebook and Google alone to reach their target audience.

“All this money is our money, our people’s money. It’s sad how we have to give it to the big global tech companies for marketing. Recognizing this, we wanted to build a platform that enables effective digital advertising and puts the money in transact domestically,” said Firoz Uddin Ahmed, COO, Inkam.

Furthermore, with the increasing demand for digital products and the population moving online, there is a lack of digital distribution infrastructure for digital products.

“We have many resale platforms for physical products (Daraz, Amazon, eBay, etc.), but the digital distribution market is still untapped,” Firoz said.

“Through Inkam, we are not only accelerating access to digital products among the masses, but also creating income opportunities for people with limited or no income,” said Khalid Hussain, co-founder of Inkam.
